The First Cavalry Army Stud Farm will participate in the EQUIROS/ ЭКВИРОС 2015 exhibition.

The official birth date of the stud farm is the 20th of November 1920 . On that day, eight months after the end of the Civil War, the farmstead of horse breeder V.A. Korolkov’s was transferred to the military department. The stud got its modern name on the 23rd of February of 1923 in honour of the fifth anniversary of the legendary Cavalry Army.

After the Civil War, the issue of breeding horses for the cavalry was all-important. Army commander S.M. Budenny was ordered to the Don region to deal with the issue. Due to his efforts, favourable conditions were created at the recently established military stud farms for a successful recovery and breeding of the future Budenny horses. The stud farm worked very successfully. In 1948 the government approved the Budenny horse breed, developed on the base of the Russian Don and the Thoroughbred breeds . This was a huge success for Russian national horse breeding.

In the post-war period there was no need for cavalry horses and the First Cavalry Army Stud Farm played a significant role in establishing the Budenny horse as a fine sporting breed.

Everyone who knows the breed is aware that Budenny horses vary significantly. The type bred at the First Cavalry Army Stud Farm is easily recognizable even by amateurs: big, husky, large boned, mainly red , less frequently chestnut or black paint. The farm’s horses always perform very well at races, horse trials and show-jumping competitions. The First Cavalry Army Stud Farm is the place where instructors and sportsmen go to select horses, for the farm’s young horses are a ticket to success in future competitions.

We look forward to seeing you at the stand of the First Cavalry Army Stud Farm at the EQUIROS/ ЭКВИРОС 2015 exhibition from October 15th to October 18th, 2015.
