Tuesday, December 10, 2013 Equus, the symbol of New 2014 Year on the photos of Tim Flach
Every new year that we all are expecting so much always gives us hope for a better future. We believe in signs and symbols, and, of course, it is very important which animal sign of the Chinese calendar is to be the representative of an upcoming year.

We have already welcomed the year of the snake, and then we made it through the year of the dog. Upcoming 2014 year has to be more fortunate. According to the Chinese calendar this year a horse will rule the signs. A noble and beautiful animal, which cannot fail to delight.

This fact is especially obvious if you look at the photos made by British photographer Tim Flach. The collection called Equus demonstrates different life periods of the magnificent animals: birth, adolescence, maturity.

Those photos which are close-up showing different body parts of horses look especially impressive. It seems that a horse’s slanting eyes portrayed at the photo are about to blink, and the hoof is about to drop to the ground, having left only a footprint after.

The Flach’s secret is in bringing all the studio equipment outside, to improve the conditions for a photo shoot. That is why the horses in the photos seem so realistic when angles look complex and versatile.

There is one distinctive feature that unites the photographer’s works: heroes of the pictures are very alike to people, their muzzle are full of feelings, eyes are filled with emotions. Their entire looks disprove the theory that dumb animals have a meager intellect and are not capable to express the highest feelings.

The organizers and participants of the Equiros project agree on that. The beauty, power and grace of a horse are what keep our business moving, what motivates us to create conditions for the equestrian sports development and horse industry in Russia, and in the whole world.
