Tuesday, December 03, 2013 The Horse Head sculpture. A series of weird sculptures by Nic Fiddian-Green
It is amazing how different we each see the world! It is so difficult to share your vision with others in the way the understand you. A famous sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green has created many exclusive masterpieces, but his most outstanding and curious work is a colossal horses' heads placed by the author in the streets of big cities. He drew his inspiration from the famous fifth-century B.C. carving of the head of a horse of Selene, Goddess of the Moon, from the Parthenon. The sculpture is located at the British Museum. Once a young Fiddian-Green saw it, he was impressed so deeply that he has become the maestro's follower. To the present days he keeps of mastering the ancient 'lost wax' technique and creates horses' heads just like his inspirer. These experiments led to a pretty weird result. One of the first sculptures: a giant bronze horse head near Marble Arch Hyde Park was placed in London. One can build a lot of assumptions why the sculpture named Still Water represents a horse's head buried in the ground. The author mysteriously answers that the horse is drinking.

Subsequently, such ten-meter horses’ heads decorated other cities, streets and parks. Locals tell legends and fairy tales about these mysterious statues, when birds gladly make a comfortable perches on them. Thus the monuments got accommodated.

It would seem, what other qualities can the already perfect and beautiful animal like horse be given? We cannot imagine it to be real.
