Thursday, August 29, 2013 Sokolniki Park invites Muscovites to a equestrian festival

EquiFest — the equestrian holiday for the whole family kicks off on August 29 in Sokolniki.
 

The festival will begin with the 15th International horse exhibition EQUIROS opening, where visitors can have a look at 180 horses of various breeds – trotters of Orel, Akhal-Teke, Arabian horses, Friesian, Appaloosas and Welsh ponies.
 

Master classes in dressage, show jumping and vaulting, performances and big shows will be held in the main arena of the exhibition center during the four days of racing.
 

The agenda features the Pride of Russia horse parade, the Russian Legend festival of Orel trotter, the show of Arabian horses, the Shael World Cup, where the best representatives of the Akhal-Teke breed will take part. The Russian Cup in Western sports will bring visitors into the world of the Wild West to see cowboys' entertainment. Cossacks will demonstrate trick riding including jumps and stunts with a bare sword.
 

A special children's area will be made for younger guests of the exhibition. Kids will be taught the basics of riding a pony at the arena during all of the days. Those who would not want to sit in the saddle will be able to stroke the cute little ponies and take pictures with them.
 

The animation program: workshops on crafts, folk art and drawing will also be prepared for children.
 

Conferences and lectures on the most pressing issues of pedigree breeding and sport horse breeding, hippodrome case and veterinary medicine will be held for experts: cattle breeders, veterinarians and trainers within the exhibition.
 

The main event of the business program will be the Public and private children’s' sports school: Problems and Solutions conference, as well as round tables devoted to Paralympic equestrian sport and hippodrome therapy.
 

The horse fair will offer accoutrements, goods for equestrian sport, stern, and veterinary drugs on the special stands of Russian, German, Dutch, Ukrainian, and Belarusian companies.


Visitors of Sokolniki Park will be able to enjoy the horse carriages parade on Saturday and Sunday, including the tiniest horses on the planet harnessed, of the mini horse breed. Historical carriages of 18th-19th centuries and modern sports ones will be presented as well, ITAR —TASS reports.
