The 1st operational regiment of mounted police has been participating in EQUIROS for six years now. The regiment’s primary task is preventing law infringement, patrolling the city park belt and upholding public order during public events. The regiment will patrol the lanes of Sokolniki park. You will be able to meet a mounted policeman practically in every corner of the huge park.
Over the last six years the best riders of the regiment have been demonstrating their skills at the international equestrian exhibition EQUIROS/ЭКВИРОС. Every year thousands of visitors have an opportunity to watch elements of trick riding, dressage and cotillion performed by officers of the 1st Operational Regiment of Mounted Police.
The history of the Regiment dates back to the 15th century and is interconnected with the history of Moscow’s mounted police. From the very beginning the Regiment has been an integral part of the agency upholding public peace. Today Moscow’s Mounted Police amounts to 400 riding policemen and 250 horses of various breeds including: Trakehners , Orlovs, Hannovers and Budyonnys.
There are four times as many mounted patrols in Moscow than in London.
