Wednesday, July 08, 2015 The 8th of July is the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity!

Our EQUIROS team sends our warmest congratulations to all of our participants and partners on this bright holiday!

The origins of the All-Russian Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity go back to the 8th century, when prince Peter of Murom and his wife Fevronia lived. This married couple is considered by Orthodox Christians as patrons of family and marriage.

Peter and Fevronia became an example of marital fidelity, mutual love and domestic harmony within their lifetime. According to the legend they died on the same day, the 25th of July (the 8th of July according to the New Style calendar) of 1228. Their bodies were buried in different places but miraculously ended up in the same grave, which was considered an act of God. Peter and Fevronia were canonized at the Church Council of 1547. Their relics are kept in the Holy Trinity Monastery in Murom.
