Thursday, October 16, 2014 Russia’s Largest Horse Exhibition Kicked Off Today

The 16th International equestrian exhibition Equiros 2014 kicked off today in exhibit hall 4.1 of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre. This event is considered the largest specialized event in Russia and mainly in Moscow in the horse industry.

The opening ceremony was attended by: A. Kharyutkin, Deputy Director General of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre, A. Lapshin, Director of Sokolniki Park, S. Filatov, First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Veterinary, E. Zabegina, President of the Russian Equine Veterinary Association, A. Polzunova, Vice-president of the Commonwealth of the Trotting Horse Breeding Russia and A. Shibaev, Deputy Director General of Rus’ Equestrian Center. The official guests of the ceremony noted the huge contribution the Equiros exhibition brings to the development of the horse industry in Russia.

The official ceremony continued with a bunch of master classes in show jumping and Western disciplines, as well as with a performance by a unique equestrian ballet, Black Swan. Viewers had the chance to see professional riders’ performances, Russian Legend, the Festival of Orlov trotter horses, and performances in show jumping among ponies. The exhibition’s participants were presented in a special parade along the arena.

The rich programme of events features various competitions, performances and master classes. An open lesson and workshop in dressage will be held by Frank Jespersen, a famous Dutch horse breeder, and recognized expert working with young horses.

The business programme traditionally includes the most relevant forums and seminars in the field of horse breeding and brings together the leading Russian and foreign industry professionals: veterinarians, livestock specialists, scientists, coaches, and sportsmen.

The Equiros exhibition is a truly interesting event both for professionals of the horse industry and everyone who loves horses. There is also a special children's programme planned.
