On September 1st, 2013, Exhibit Hall 4 of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre saw the Make a Hat – Save a Kid! charity event traditionally organized by the Life Line charity foundation, ZABEGINA Ltd, and Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre within the framework of EQUIROS, the 15th International Equestrian Exhibition and Fair.
Horse lovers and experts together with people of artistic professions crafted pretty hats from work-pieces and various improvised materials. Those hats were then sold to the creators and guests.
Here are some of the “hatters”: Natalya Tolstaya, writer, psychologist, TV host; Irina Ryabushkina, Life Line Private Programmes Manager; Yekaterina Zabegina, ZABEGINA Ltd Designer, Irina Veshchikova, Executive Director of the Commonwealth Trotting Association of Russia; Yulia Kuznetsova, Curator of the Horse Breeding Museum under the Timiryazev Moscow Academy of Agriculture, participant of the Kara-Kum Desert two-thousand-kilometre extreme race; Roza Loksner, a representative of the Svechinsky Equestrian Sports Complex; Larisa Agafonova, a lawyer from the Shevchenko & Co legal aid agency; Yelena Makarova, representative of sculptor Irina Makarova; Natalya Tselinskaya, a hat designer; Yelena Kochergina, Chief Vet Surgeon of the Kind Heart Clinique; Anna Kurchenko, Assistant Director of ZABEGINA Ltd; members of the famous Varnavskaya Team of Yelena Varnavskaya, International Master of Sports in equestrian sports: Ksenia Guzenko, Candidate Master of Sports, Interpreter of the Russian Equestrian Sports Federation; Maria Litvinenko, Candidate Master of Sports in Eventing; Serafima Veremeyenko, a MGIMO student whose passion is dressage and eventing. Semyon Zakov hosted the event.
The hats made by the good hands were sold to the visitors. The proceeds from the sales will be channeled to fund high-tech operations for children with heart problems.
